The game honestly isn’t that hard as long as you’re willing to level up a few times if a boss is ever giving you trouble. There are some BS bosses way late in the game, but they can be cheesed with certain strategies if you’re having too much trouble.
Do you play as Riku in Chain of Memories?
To play as Riku, you first have to complete the storyline while playing as Sora. Doing so will unlock the Reverse/Rebirth mode, which gives you two extra save files that you can use to play Riku’s side of the story.
Should I play chain of memories before KH2?
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was released on the GBA in a time when the only other game in the series was KH1. . The new, worthwhile content is located between floors and in the last three worlds. You’re not missing out much if you skip the cutscenes of the Disney worlds, IMO. The regular game with Sora, on Proud, took me about 20 hours, and Riku’s about 6. So I’d say about 25 hours is what you should expect.

You don’t have to, but it helps to fill in gaps. You also don’t « have » to play Sora’s part of Chain of Memories. . Story wise, you have to play Riku’s Reverse-Rebirth mode. In a way, it gives a lot more relevant insight on the story and characters than Sora’s side of CoM could ever hope to do.

Should I play kingdom hearts 358/2 days before Kingdom Hearts 2?
Always KH2 first then 358/2 Days, Days spoils some details for KH2. . It doesn’t really matter if you’re going through the series again later (I’m going through it right now and plan on doing Days before KH2), but if it’s your first time, definitely play KH2 first because Days will spoil some pretty big reveals.
Is Chain of Memories necessary?
It is relatively important, as usual at least watch the cutscenes somewhere. And no, it’s the only card based game, unless you’re counting chi. Its a pretty important link between 1 and 2 so id recommend it. Hopefully the story will be interesting enough to pull you through.
