You can’t tap a creature whenever you want. You can only tap a creature when you need to attack, activate its ability, or pay a specific cost. The same rule applies to untapping creatures. You can only untap a creature during your untap step or when prompted to by a spell or ability.
Do artifacts enter the battlefield tapped? Artifacts and lands enter the battlefield tapped. Creatures and nonbasic lands your opponents control enter the battlefield tapped.
Similarly, Can you tap something that’s already tapped? You can tap creatures that are already tapped, and it has no extra effect (they will still untap when they are supposed to). However, you cannot use a tapped creature to pay for a cost that includes tapping a creature.

Can you tap a card without attacking?
If a creature is tapped, it can’t attack. Attacks occur as the declare attackers step begins in a combat phase. As a Turn-Based Action, the creatures you choose become tapped and attacking. ability, therefore, it MUST NOT attack someone.
Do artifacts get summoning sickness?
Although all permanents experience Summoning Sickness, only Creatures, Artifact Creatures, Land Creatures, planeswalker creatures and Enchantment Creatures (or Land, Artifacts, planeswalkers or Enchantments that have become creatures) are affected by Summoning Sickness.
Do all creatures enter tapped? The only time a creature will enter the battlefield tapped is if the creature card explicitly states that it needs to enter tapped or if another card effect makes it enter tapped. Creatures enter the battlefield with “summoning sickness » which means they cant attack on thier first turn unless they have haste.
Do basic lands enter the battlefield tapped? Taplands is the nickname for lands that usually produce multiple colors of mana and generally enter the battlefield tapped during some point in the game and have no additional drawbacks, though mechanics to have these lands enter the battlefield untapped may be present.
Can mind games target a tapped land?
No. For two reasons: 1) Tapping in this case is the cost of an ability, and you cannot respond while a player is paying costs. 2) Tapping lands for mana is a mana ability, and does not use the stack, thus you can’t respond to it.
Can tapped Creatures be attacked? Tapped creatures cannot attack (even if they have vigilance) but they can still fight. Similarly, note that if the creature was untapped, fighting does not cause it to tap (unless the fight spell or ability says so).
Can you target tap a tapped creature?
So you can target a tapped creature as a legal target. When the ability resolves, it will first attempt to tap the already tapped creature (which will do nothing), and then the « it doesn’t untap… » will still take effect.
Does untap remove summoning sickness? You can untap it but it will not remove summoning sickness. While summoning sickness prevents your creature from using any tap abilities or attacking a creature with summoning sickness is not tapped when it enters the battlefield, it can still block on your opponent’s turn.
Does untap require haste?
No it won’t. Haste means your creature is unaffected by summoning sickness and can tap the turn it comes into play. It does not untap your creature. Nothing on the Mage ability tells you to untap the creature.
How do you play untap?
Can you tap a creature for no reason in magic? You can’t just tap a creature at will. Creature only become tapped when they attack (unless they have vigilance), when they’re tapped pay costs to activate abilities, or when an effect causes them to become tapped.
Can you tap a creature at any time?
Assuming the Blinding Mage is not summoning sick, yes. Activated abilities can be activated at anytime you have priority (in other words: when you could play an instant) unless they state otherwise. Do be aware that you have to tap the creature BEFORE it is declared as an attacker.
Can tapped creatures block?
You cannot attack or block with a creature that is tapped. So you are correct, if you tap a creature to use an ability before the attack phase, you won’t be able to choose it as an attacker, and it won’t be an available defender during your opponent’s next turn.
Can you tap Sol Ring turn one? You cast sol ring, you can tap it to produce mana. However, let’s say instead you cast ensoul artifact on the untapped sol ring you just played this turn. Now you cannot tap the sol ring for mana or to attack since it is now a creature that came into play that same turn.
Do artifacts stay on the battlefield?
Artifact creatures behave just like other creatures in that they can’t attack or use abilities the turn they hit the battlefield, unless they have haste. An Equipment stays on the battlefield when not attached to a creature.
Can you tap artifacts at instant speed? Unless specified, Artifacts can activate at instant speed.
Does Flash have summoning sickness?
Controller’s turn — If you flash in a creature on your opponent’s turn, it will not be able to attack or use tap-activated abilities on your opponent’s turn. However, as soon as it becomes your turn, you will have started the turn with the creature in your control, and so the summoning sickness is gone.
What is tap target creature? If the text just says « target creature » then the only requirement is that the target needs to be a creature. As the spell/ability resolves, you follow all the instructions in order, ignoring the things you can’t do and doing as much as you can of the rest.
